About clothes repair, mending, and sustainable practices

Questions & Answers

What is visible mending?

Visible mending is an umbrella term to describe mending which accentuates the mend versus hiding it. Sashiko, embroidery, applique, and patching are some of the techniques used in visible mending.

Do I have to get visible mending?

Not at all! You can opt for invisible or functional mending which aims to hid the mend and have it blend into the existing material. When we discuss your mending needs, I will ask your preference for visible or invisible/functional mending.

I could just as easily get a new shirt rather than spend $20 on a repair, why should I consider mending?
