About South Coast Stitch & Mend Studio

Welcome to South Coast Stitch & Mend Studio! My name is Ami Chitwood, and I'm passionate about preserving the beauty and utility of clothing, work clothes, bags and more by giving them a second chance. The journey began with a simple mission: to keep fixable clothes out of the landfill and promote a sustainable lifestyle.

From mending my friends' clothes to supporting local artists and their repair needs, my interest in doing more for the students, artists, electricians, accountants, farmers, and neighbors in the South Coast area has grown exponentially. I'm working out of the Co-Creative Center in New Bedford and my home in Westport, MA, and I offer unique mending services tailored to your needs.

The majority of fabric I use for mending is either no-kill or second-hand (or third-hand) material I've sourced from deadstock, Swanson's Fabric, Make & Mend, thrift stores, or my own stash.

No job is too small, and I'm always here to help with a free consultation. Let's work together to revitalize your wardrobe and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Contact me for all your mending needs, and let's make your clothes, bookbag, backpack, curtains, jacket, hat, slippers, socks.... last longer.
